                       MUCORMYCOSIS -WHITE FUNGUS

DEFINITION OF WHITE FUNGUS.

                        Mucormycosis is a very rare infection. It is caused by exposure to mucormould which is commonly found in soil, manure, and decaying fruits and vegetables. 'It is ubiquitous and found in soil and air and even in the nose and mucus of healthy people.

                        white fungus is considered to be more dangerous than black fungus but the mortality rate is currently unknown.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF WHITE FUNGUS?

                          It can affect the lungs as well as other parts of the  body including the nails, skin, stomach, kidney, brain, private parts , mouth.

                        Causes of  Mucormycosis or "White fungus", a potentially serious condition that causes blurred or double vision, chest pain and breathing difficulties have surged in India, mostly among could patient.

                         The  white fungus was detected when High- Resolution Computed Tomography (HRCT) was performed on the infection patient.

                        Patients  affected with white fungus show Covid-19 like symptoms but their test is negative.

                        These include diabetes, cancer patients who are on steroids treatment for a long period time, coronavirus Patients who are on oxygen support.

TREATMENT FOR WHITE FUNGUS:

                All infected patients are tested with a fungus culture of their phlegm or mucus to detect infection in their body. 

                Four patients currently being treated with antifungal medicine Amphotericin-B  and stable.
